If you notice...

...you happen to have less friends in the next few days, it's because I am deleting anyone who posts nothing but re-tweets of their twits here on LJ. I don't need to read this crap twice people!

I really hate having to read people's Twitters on LJ. If I want to read your Twits, I'll follow you on Twitter! Sheesh! Consider yourself un-friended on LJ if that's all you're gonna post here, it's a complete waste of my time.

Are You a Hippie?

You are a Hippie
You are a total hippie. While you may not wear birks or smell of incense, you have the soul of a hippie.

You don't trust authority, and you do as you please. You're willing to take a stand, even when what you believe isn't popular.

You like to experiment with ideas, lifestyles, and different subcultures.

You always gravitate toward what's radical and subversive. Normal, mainstream culture doesn't really resonate with you.

Goddess Meme

Which Goddess lurks in your soul?

You are a wise one, my dear! Athena is the Greek Goddess of wisdom, disciplined war, philosophy and knowledge. She is a selective Goddess, as she only inhabits those of your high intelligence and keenness to learn great things. You’re usually not seen without a book in your hand or your eyes glued to the internet (which is, after all, the great information highway!). This should not suggest that you don’t enjoy people, as your cleverness and sharp wit are usually in full force when in a social situation, to everyone’s delight.

Twilight? I'd give it 1 out of 5 stars...

Really? Is this what all the hype is about? I saw the movie "Twilight" this weekend and find myself scratching my head in wonderment about why so many people are enamored with it. Personally, I'll be shocked and even amazed if Saturday Night Live doesn't poke a whole bunch of fun at it this weekend because there are so many cliché's for them to turn into humor. First, there is the deadpan acting style of Kristen Steward and Robert Pattison. I must say they are truly matched in their flat delivery. It's almost as if the two of them were having some sort of contest as to which one could show the least expression. Then there is the editing and scene composition. The fact that the expressionless Bella and Edward carry on conversations without looking at one another yet the camera shot skips around them popping to a different angle every 3-4 words. It is disturbing to watch. Then there is the story itself, is there really that much teenage angst? This angst is magnified by a melancholy musical tract of lilting piano or cello that meanders along nearly as expressionlessly as Bella and Edward.

Of course, I didn't think they had much to work with in the first place as I found the book rather uncreative and boring. The writing is amateur and, compared to many of the unpublished works I've read in my writing critique groups, not as worthy as many of these undiscovered gems I've critiqued for my friends. It's odd what finds a publisher and subsequently finds a fan base. I'm more and more convinced it isn't talent or ability but pure unadulterated luck.

So if it's vampires you want, go watch Interview with a Vampire, or Buffy the Vampire Slayer, or Angel, or Blood Ties, or anything but Twilight.
